Project Description

2016 marked year two for the Bristech conference and the second year of Focal Point being employed as their freelance event manager. With ambitious plans for growth the conference moved to The Watershed with the aim of using all available space.

On the day we welcomed 400 delegates, 28 speakers and a dozen sponsors and exhibitors including Scott Logic, Dyson and ForgeRock. The sell-out event used all three cinemas, plus the main conference room, both catering spaces and the joining corridors. Only the public bar was left “untouched”!

Bristech 2016 was the largest event ever run at The Watershed and required a bit of work to make the best use of the space.

To ensure a seamless delegate experience we worked with the venue to stream the welcome and closing sessions so whichever room you were in you felt part of the action. Delegates were then free to choose between three streams of talks as well as a smaller cinema hosting a workshop programme.

Feedback from speakers and delegates was great. We even trended on Twitter (albeit just for Bristol).

You can read more about the conference on SouthWest Business.

As well as the planning and logistical delivery of the event Focal Point also supported Bristech in the launch of their new branding. This saw us developing a range of materials including:

  • Flyers
  • Name badges
  • Teardrop flags
  • Posters
  • Lanyards
  • T-shirts
  • Digital screen content

The result was a consistent look and feel for the event, reflecting the modern and vibrant make-up of the audience.
