Project Description

2016 saw the Business Showcase South West move to the new Ashton Gate Stadium and become the largest business show in the South West. With more than 160 exhibitors, three presentation spaces and keynote speakers including Wing Commander Andy Green OBE, the event continues to raise the bar for business shows in the region.

Focal Point were employed as Operations Director to design, build and manage the exhibition space as well as to coordinate the involvement of the headline sponsors: University of Bath, School of Management, Executive Development; Bath and Bristol Audi; Corporate Traveller; NatWest Worldpay; and Enterprise Car Club.

With a limited build period in a venue that is still relatively new to large-scale exhibitions, there was a lot to be done. From development of the exhibitor health and safety process, creation of floor plans and marking out to management of the electrical contractors – the project required clear communication and tight management throughout.

As well as the management of the internal exhibition build, the showcase also saw us managing the involvement of the Bloodhound Supersonic Car. In a matter of days we developed a proposal for the positioning of the vehicle on-site, risk assessed the load in and out, and secured approval from the venue for involvement. It was a great addition to the show and exactly the sort of last minute challenge we thrive on!

Having worked on the Showcase since it’s launch in 2014 it’s great to play a role in it’s continued development. Hopefully it also says something about the service we provide and the relationships we develop with our clients.

“Thomas is my first choice for Business Showcase. A one-stop powerhouse of calm, professional and thorough event management. His understanding and production of technical matters – especially exhibition floor plans – makes him the only choice for me as the organiser. Recommended.”

Jamie Breese, Managing Director, Showcase Events Ltd
