Project Description

Tired with attending the same-old industry conference, Empire Engineering decided to strike out on their own and create something better.

Foundation Ex, a one-day conference centred on the life-cycle of an off-shore wind turbine foundation, was designed as a technical antidote to the bland product pitches that make up so many conferences. Built around short, focused presentations interspersed with longer workshops the event aimed to attract a technical community of engineers at the forefront of the industry.

With limited event experience, Empire turned to Focal Point to support them in turning their ideas into reality.

As with all first-year conferences the budget needed careful management with a balance to be struck between delivering a professional event and keeping things lean.

By focusing on the content and getting the right people in the room Empire were able to deliver a stand-out event that attracted close to 200 delegates from across Europe and sponsorship from some of the leading companies in the sector.

Although a relatively modest event the impact on Empire was significant and is testament to the power of events as a marketing tool.

Through running the conference Empire were able to position themselves as thought leaders, elevated their brand, secured new business leads and cemented existing relationships.

Focal Point were responsible for:

  • Project guidance
  • Registration and payment management
  • Digital and print collateral and signage
  • Venue and AV management
