Project Description
The Women’s Adventure Expo is the first adventure and travel expo in the UK dedicated to women. Focal Point were approached to support the 2017 event, helping to develop the format and back-office processes, investigate the potential for additional income streams and deliver the event on the day.
Working with the founders we advised on a new ticketing profile which allowed costs to be reduced while increasing the perceived value to delegates. We also re-configured the event floorplan to allow for additional exhibitor stands while ensuring that the open and inclusive feel of the event was maintained.
We also made the decision to move away from the in-house AV supplier. By bringing in a dedicated team we resolved all of the technical issues of the 2016 event to deliver what one speaker described as “the most trouble-free conference I’ve ever been part of”.
The event was a great success, attracting over 250 delegates, 20 exhibitors and 15 speakers. The adjustments we made to the running of the event should put the Women’s Adventure Expo CIC in good stead for the 2018 event – leading to sustainable future growth.
Focal Point were responsible for:
- Event design and strategy
- Venue management
- Floor planning
- Speaker management
- Exhibitor management
- Health and Safety
- Audio Visual
- Staff and volunteer management
Tania John, Co-Founder and Director of Women’s Adventure Expo CIC had this to say:
“Efficient, capable and reliable but also has the flexibility and creativity to be able to develop ideas and manage uncertainty, Thomas has been a pleasure to work with this year and we plan to appoint Thomas as our event manager for next year’s Women’s Adventure Expo. Highly recommended.”
